Christ Church invites applications for a fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturership in Human Geography.
This is a temporary, fixed-term position to fulfil a current teaching need arising from Professor Vasudevan’s buyout during the period he will be Junior Censor. Therefore, the appointment carries with it no expectation of permanent employment at Christ Church.
The Lecturer will be expected to deliver six hours of high-quality tutorial teaching per week, averaged over the three eight-week terms of the academic year and weighted in accordance with the Senior Tutors’ Committee recommendations.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach topics including first year Human Geography and Techniques classes, Space, Place and Society (Final Honours School), and the Human Geography component of Environmental Geography and Geographical Thought (Final Honours School). The Lecturer will also coordinate, set and mark College term exams (Collections) and participate in the undergraduate admissions exercise, including reading of UCAS forms, marking of written work, and conducting interviews.
This post is offered on a three-year fixed-term temporary basis with a salary of £16,569 - £18,308 (current rates) per annum, according to qualifications and experience.
Further particulars, including instructions on how to apply, may be downloaded from https://www.chch.ox.ac.uk/vacancies. The deadline for applications is Monday 28 April 2025 at noon.
Entry into employment with Christ Church and progression within employment will be determined only by personal merit and the application of criteria which are related to the duties of each particular post and the relevant salary structure. In all cases, ability to perform the job will be the primary consideration.
