We are looking for a Senior Researcher in Health Economics to join Associate Professor Rafael Pinedo-Villanueva. In this position you will lead on and contribute to the design, analysis, and presentation of results of collaborative research projects. Most of your analytical work will be based on Real World Data (RWD), in many cases from datasets mapped to the OMOP common data model such as the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) and Hospital Episode Statistics (HES). Data from these and other sources on healthcare resource use, costs, and effectiveness measures including clinical and PROMs, in particular health-related quality of life, will be used for direct as well as modelling studies.

As a Senior Researcher in Health Economics, you will initiate and implement health economics research studies of various diseases and interventions within the Department, University, and other organisations. You will develop research questions and contribute to advancing methods in health economics research and innovative uses of real-world observational datasets. Additionally you will contribute to health-economic related workshops and lectures for the teaching programmes in the Department. You will be expected to manage your own administrative activities, attend departmental meetings and to participate (where necessary and appropriate) in other committees and working groups within the Department, the Division and the University

You must hold a PhD/DPhil in Health Economics or a related discipline alongside significant research experience in health economics and substantial expertise in the application of economic techniques relevant to health sciences. You will have extensive experience analysing Real World Data in the OMOP format and in health economics evaluation of musculoskeletal interventions using observational datasets. You must have a comprehensive understanding and experience of statistical methods appropriate for applied health economics research. Knowledge of R (or other equivalent statistical package) programming and an established publication record in economic and medical journals, and familiarity with the existing literature and research in the field is essential.

Experience in health economics evaluations alongside clinical trials, and experience in providing specialist advice to industry, university, or external research institutes are desirable.

This is a part-time (20% FTE), fixed-term position for 12 months or until 31/07/2026.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 4 April 2025. Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.
