Oxford Population Health (Nuffield Department of Population Health) contains world-renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Based within NDPH, The China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) Study is a uniquely rich and powerful global resource for investigating the environmental and genetic determinants of common chronic diseases.

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Molecular Epidemiologist to work on an NDPH Senior Fellowship funded project which seeks to clarify the causal associations and molecular mechanisms linking adiposity with different diseases in diverse populations and to identify potential therapeutic targets. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a programme of research that assess the causal relevance of plasma proteins with a wide range of health outcomes, identify novel and repurposing drug targets for diseases, and explore the underlying mechanisms of action and predict side-effects of specific protein targets, by leveraging high-dimensional big data (e.g. electronic health records, multi-omics and phenotypic) from large prospective biobanks including China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) and UK Biobank (UKB), and genetics consortia.
 
To be considered for the role you will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in in epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, molecular epidemiology, medical statistics or other relevant subject. You will have experience of analysing large and high dimensional population or clinical research datasets, using conventional and genetic approaches and strong programming skills in statistical languages (e.g. R) for data analysis and visualisation.
 
The position is full time (part time considered) and fixed term for 2 years. The closing date for applications is noon on 9 May 2025.
