- THE ROLE -
The School of Communication and Media seeks to appoint a Lecturer with relevant experience in virtual production to teach into the BA Screen Production and a new MA Film and Television Production, both based on our Belfast Campus.
The successful candidate will teach professional, applied industry-level practice in virtual production within one or more of virtual production’s various Screen Industries environments – e.g. Film or Television or Multi-camera XR Studio and Live Television. A background of using virtual production in Higher Education or industrial practice would be advantageous. The appointee will be part of a team of specialists with screen theory, documentary, audio, short film, multi-camera studio and visual effects expertise on courses with a constructively aligned curriculum. The successful candidate will deliver core and optional specialist modules across the undergraduate and postgraduate programs and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects. A deep understanding of the relationship between storytelling for the screen and virtual production is essential. A strong subject pedagogy and focus on pastoral work to introduce students to the discipline is desirable. The appointment will be supported by a strong technical team, with film and media industry backgrounds, to help students develop their creativity, and understand the productive links between storytelling, visual communication, diegetic environment design, media theory and production.
- ABOUT YOU -
1. You will contribute to/lead the design, development and delivery of relevant UG and PG curricula in the School of Communication and Media.
2. You will undertake leadership at module, course or subject level as appropriate and as required.
3. You will engage with the research activities of relevant initiatives such as the Centre for Media Research, CoSTAR and Studio Ulster.
4. You will supervise and support students in studios, workshops and other locations, as required to deliver high quality learning and teaching to students at all learning levels including face to face, virtual learning environments and online delivery, ensuring industry and professional relevance and standards.
