- THE ROLE -
Ulster University has developed an international reputation as a leader in education and research in the creative industries. Ulster’s leadership of initiatives, such as the £75m Studio Ulster project, the £13m Future Screens NI project and the £13m CoSTAR Screen Lab, have driven new course provision in virtual production, animation and games design, increased student numbers and attracted significant funding to support research in creative technologies. The Ulster Screen Academy was established in 2020 to bring together the extensive range of screen-related course provision, research and consultancy across the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS). The University wishes to appoint an outstanding leader to the position of Professor of Creative Industries & Director of the Ulster Screen Academy.
The successful candidate for this role will provide the vision and expertise required to take Ulster to the next level of success in education and research in the creative industries. The Professor/Director will work with Deans, Heads of School, Research Directors, Academic Staff and Professional Services at Ulster and with industry partners from across the creative sector, to maximise opportunities for new course provision, R&D, consultancy and skills development.
- ABOUT YOU -
1. You will develop and implement a compelling vision for the future of the Ulster Screen Academy and the creative industries, more generally at Ulster University.
2. You will develop productive links with Studio Ulster and the CoSTAR Screen Lab.
3. You will work closely with Heads of School, Research Directors and Academic Staff to promote, develop and build cross-disciplinary working between relevant subject areas to the benefit of all Schools involved.
4. You will provide leadership for the development of new undergraduate and postgraduate taught provision and pathways across relevant Schools.
5. You will provide leadership in research and consultancy activities in creative industries in AHSS.
6. You will explore synergies across Schools in the Ulster Screen Academy that will encourage and promote non-regulated programme development.
