The role

We are looking for an experienced and strategic Impact Development Manager to join the University of Bristol Business School. This is a key role in ensuring our research delivers tangible benefits to industry, society, and policy. You will lead on developing and implementing strategies to enhance research impact, working closely with academics and external partners to support collaboration and secure funding.

As part of the Business School’s research team, you will play a vital role in identifying, capturing, and promoting research impact, ensuring its reach and significance, and be the key point of support for developing our REF impact case studies. 

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement impact strategies, helping academics translate research into real-world change.
  • Identify and manage research impact case studies, strengthening the School’s impact culture.
  • Support funding applications, securing grants to enhance research impact.
  • Manage devolved impact funds, ensuring effective allocation, reporting, and compliance.
  • Work with faculties, industry partners, and policymakers to drive research-informed change and collaboration.
  • Deliver training and support, building capacity for impact development within the School.
  • Represent the Business School at regional, national, and international levels to enhance its impact profile.

You should apply if

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • strong experience in research impact, or research management in academia, industry, or policy.
  • A proven track record in developing impact strategies, and managing research impact funds.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across sectors.
  • Excellent project management and leadership abilities, including budget and team management.
  • The ability to communicate complex research ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
