Opportunity Overview

We are currently seeking a Communications Manager to cover a 12-month fixed term period of maternity leave. The Communications Manager will be responsible for protecting and promoting the reputation and profile of Salford Business School, and of the University regionally, nationally and internationally. Working with colleagues from across the University, the Communications Manager will be responsible for the design and development of Media and PR strategies which support the school and key research areas. This role also covers internal communications, using internal channels to celebrate success, engage with colleagues and deliver key messages about the University’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide PR and social media expertise and guidance for the school and related areas of research so that our University reputation is protected and enhanced
  • Research, write and distribute proactive PR news stories across all media contacts and channels
  • Build strong relationships with press contacts to sell in news releases, features and place academics for expert comment across a wide range of media platforms
  • Proactively create communications campaigns for schools’ priorities
  • Report on press and social media coverage with an emphasis on the critical analysis and evaluation of reach in relation to student recruitment objectives and overall impact of activity

Within the Marketing, Recruitment & External Relations (MRER) Directorate, the Communications Team is responsible for supporting the delivery of the University’s strategy and branding, focusing on enhancing its national and international profile for research and expertise, industry partnerships and work-ready graduates, and communicating to its own staff.
