The School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE) seeks to appoint a permanent post at lecturer level (Grade 8) in Physics to enhance and expand all activities of the Physics programme team. The Physics team contributes to a range of taught programmes within SEE School at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the BSc Physics degree, the STEM Foundation Year, and the new MSc Microsystems and Nanotechnology.  Research is undertaken in the broad area of Condensed Matter Physics, with current specific expertise in quantum technologies, high pressure physics, photonics and energy materials and devices. The group contributed to REF 2021 through UoA 12 (Engineering) as the Materials Physics Group, with 76% of outputs judged internationally excellent or world-leading.

You will have a PhD in Physics or a closely related area and contribute to all aspects of the programme team including:

  • The design and delivery of teaching materials from undergraduate to postgraduate level.
  • Undertake the supervision of student projects at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
  • Undertake collaborative research in an area of condensed matter physics.
