Background
Unprofessional behaviour among healthcare staff, including incivility, harassment and bullying is a widespread problem. Almost all NHS staff experience incivility and about a quarter report bullying or harassment each year. Our overall aim is to help prevent and reduce unprofessional behaviour in the NHS. We want to use realist methods to understand how and why strategies and interventions to reduce and prevent unprofessional behaviour at work, for whom and in what circumstances to produce evidence based actionable findings to reduce and prevent unprofessional behaviour in the NHS.
