Based at the University of Glasgow’s Dumfries Campus, the School of Social & Environmental Sustainability is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Ecology (Research & Teaching Track) to further enhance research and teaching across a developing portfolio of Environmental Science & Sustainability undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The successful candidate will be part of a collegiate and committed team of environmental science & sustainability colleagues working across a number of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
With a specific interest in ecological restoration of temperate woodlands or other terrestrial habitats, our ambitious and inspiring new colleague will play a key role in the development and delivery of courses across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Successful applicants will also contribute to the School’s successes in securing ambitious research projects.
In addition to a comprehensive understanding of ecological theory, the ideal candidate will be confident in leading/teaching groups in the field and lab and collaborate with external agencies.
It is expected that applicants should be willing to teach across the University’s campuses, in China on our joint programmes with leading Chinese universities, and more generally overseas as and when required.
The postholder will deliver exciting and engaging learning and teaching activities, undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline, and contribute to administration and service activities in line with the School/College’s strategic objectives.
For appointment at Grade 8, the postholder will make a substantial contribution to leading high quality research activities and delivering, organising and reviewing key areas of teaching and learning within the School.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended.
