The role
In the position of RF Assistant (Porter), you will be expected to operate across all University of Bristol Residential properties providing a range of portering services to meet operational demand, and assist in the day-to-day operation of the Residences by providing a friendly and informative reception and security service and supporting good relations with students, residents and guests.
This position is part time at 32.5 hours per week.
What will you be doing?
- You will be expected to carry out the following duties during their shift:
- As required, you will be the point of contact for residents requiring Facilities’ assistance, including dealing with issues such as complaints about facilities and services provided.
- Completing building health and safety and compliance testing duties.
- As required to provide reception duties including: dealing with enquiries, accommodation arrivals / departures, lost property, checking of identity cards, authorisation of contractors and visitors, accepting deliveries, dealing with visitors and prospective students attending interviews, assisting disabled visitors, staff and students and dealing with co-ordinators and staff for outside events.
- Carry out minor maintenance work, checking for damage to equipment and recording reported faults, rectifying where possible (and where such tasks are within agreed guidelines) or passing on for action by others.
- Reporting Health and Safety hazards, faults and minor maintenance issues through the appropriate channels.
- Where required undertake building integrity and perimeter patrols of the UoB residential portfolio within the student villages. Assisting in maintaining the security of and issuing keys to students, staff and conference delegates and assisting with access to rooms for maintenance - maintaining records relating to use of keys.

- Experience of working in a customer service environment.
- Experience of working in a maintenance or facility assistant role.
- A valid UK driving license.
