Globally, we are ranked top 10 globally in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024 and placed 169th in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2025.

Our University Strategy 2030 places transformative education and exceptional student experience at the heart of our mission to create a sustainable, healthy and socially just future. We aim to challenge and inspire our community of learners from every background to thrive, develop the skills they will need for the future and lead the change the world needs. We do this by creating an environment where students are active partners in their learning journey, empowered to shape their educational experience, and prepared to become future leaders and change-makers in their chosen fields. Our vision encompasses both traditional and innovative approaches to teaching and learning, supported by cutting-edge digital technologies and research-led pedagogical practices.

The University has a proud history. From its roots in the Southwest of England, it has grown to be a truly inclusive and diverse global university with a community of around 30,000 students from more than 150 countries, and 7,000 staff working across four campuses in Devon and Cornwall. Our leading academics, global university partners, and a network of more than 185,000 alumni across 183 countries bring the world to Exeter – and take Exeter to the world.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Vice-President and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education and Student Experience) to join our University Executive Board as we embark on an exciting journey of strategic investment in our Strategy 2030, such as in our Curriculum for Change programme and in innovation and digital transformation. The successful candidate will lead the development of our renewed Education and Student Experience Strategy, further driving innovation in teaching and learning while maintaining our commitment to excellence in student experience.

This key leadership role involves enhancing our educational provision through online learning, executive education and degree apprenticeships, and fostering strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate will bring proven leadership experience in higher education, demonstrating success in delivering innovation and transformational change and building strong relationships across the University.

The University of Exeter is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and through this appointment process it is the University's clearly stated aim to develop candidate pools that include applicants from all backgrounds and communities. The University particularly welcomes applications from women, people from black and minority ethnic communities, the LGBTQ+ community and from disabled people.

The deadline for applications is 09:00 GMT on Friday 28th March 2025.
