Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy, and Anthropology (SPSA)
SPSPA is comprised of around 150 members of academic staff, six distinct academic disciplines and eight interdisciplinary research centres, and teaches over 2,000 students across over 50 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. We are a vibrant, friendly, and international community of scholars committed to maintaining a superb working environment to support our excellent research and teaching.
The role
SPSPA is recruiting a new Lecturer in Philosophy as part of its strategic investment in this area. Our world-leading research in Philosophy explores fundamental issues of societal concern from a pluralistic and interdisciplinary perspective. The department has distinctive strengths in the history and philosophy of scientific practice, including biology, medicine, and data studies, through Egenis, the University of Exeter's flagship centre for the study of life sciences.
The department is known, too, for its internationally-recognised research in situated cognition, affectivity, and artificial intelligence. In collaboration with other disciplines, such as Sociology, Politics, and Anthropology, and in dialogue with the wider scholarly community, our expertise covers social and political philosophy, the philosophy of race and gender, and the philosophy of law. Our new Lecturer will contribute to our excellence in research and teaching in Philosophy and enhance our global reputation in this area.
