Job Summary
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior administrator to join the Student Office within the Department of Bioengineering. This role offers the chance to support students throughout their academic journey in a dynamic environment.
As a key member of the team, you will proactively manage the administration of assessments, ensuring that processes run smoothly, and deadlines are met. Working closely with colleagues across the department, you will help provide students with accurate, up-to-date information to support their studies.
This role is well-suited to a detail-oriented and well-organised individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills being essential. You will have the ability to work collaboratively within the team but with initiative to work independently and unsupervised on certain tasks. If you have previous experience organising exams and project days, this is desirable but not essential.
While this position offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, the successful candidate must be prepared to work on-site full-time throughout the year when required, ensuring that critical operations are effectively managed.

- Monitor student submissions and follow up on relevant issues, escalating as necessary e.g. late submissions, changes to deadlines, problems with assessments. Updating department tracker for discussion with Academic Tutor and Director of Studies.
- Manage the organisation of project and presentation days. Scheduling time slots, creating marking reports and collating results under a tight deadline ahead of the exam boards.
- Manage the departmental teaching website and AcaDiary, the departments assessment management system.
- Manage exam paper printing in January, March, and May. Consulting with the print team to set deadlines, managing purchase orders, and working with the Finance team to ensure there is enough budget to cover costs.
Essential requirements
- Demonstrable experience of providing a customer-focused service with proven experience of office administration.
- Proven experience of maintaining webpages, databases and using Virtual Learning Environments (or willingness to learn).
- Excellent IT skills. Able to use MS office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) to a high standard.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including accurate grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Creative approach to problem-solving
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to deal with a wide range of people.
- Able to meet deadlines, work flexibly and calmly, bearing in mind the operational priorities.
