Software QA Engineer

University of Liverpool - IS Team

Location: Liverpool
Salary: £39,105 to £45,163
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 21st February 2025
Closes: 21st March 2025
Job Ref: 091213

The University of Liverpool are seeking a talented and self-motivated Software QA Engineer to join the IS team to help establish best practices in software QA and apply them.

There is a move in the industry towards electronic documentation with the lockdown acting as a catalyst. We need you to help lead the way in this effort and close out remaining paper files.

The role requires a keen interest in the testing and quality assurance of software, ensuring that the software produced by the IS team has the highest quality, is fit for purpose and compliant with regulatory requirements.

You will work to agreed performance standards, optimising processes and working practices, deliver within agreed response times, and ensure documentation and records relating to activities are effectively maintained.

We work primarily in C#, JavaScript, MySQL and SQL Server - however we understand good staff can switch tech stacks, and indeed roles. This role would suit someone coming from a software QA or testing background, or indeed someone making the transition from development or other stakeholders in the software live cycle.

In return you get: -

  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Public transport loans
  • Childcare voucher scheme
  • Perks at work staff discount portal
  • 28 days holiday + University closure days (usually 6) + bank holidays (usually 8)
  • To work on projects that genuinely change people’s lives.

The post is available for 1 year in the first instance. There is a permanent commitment of the University to this role though funding is a mixture of core support and research funding with a fixed-term profile.

Although the university has a hybrid working system, the expectation is that the successful applicant appointed to this role will be expected to work more than 60% on campus

Commitment to Diversity

The University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity. We actively seek to attract, develop, and retain colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We welcome applications from all genders/gender identities, Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, individuals living with a disability, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
