The pursuit of research which is internationally recognised for excellence in its originality, significance and rigour is central to the culture of the School, as is delivery of a strong student experience.
Following the appointment of the School's Dean, Professor Julia Balogun, in 2015 and supported by strong ongoing investment from the University and its ambitious strategy for 2031, ‘Liverpool 2031’, ULMS is fulfilling its vision to be a globally significant Management School whose transformative research and teaching places it at the forefront of influential knowledge leadership bringing the School together with students, business and society in learning to make a difference.
Over the last five years ULMS has engaged in extensive recruitment of academic and professional services staff, expanding into a state-of-the-art extension adjacent to the Georgian quarter of Liverpool, including a trading room and a marketing suite. The School now has 230 academic staff supported by 90 professional services colleagues. In its wider setting, the School benefits from Liverpool's standing as a member of the UK's leading Russell Group research-intensive universities and from its location in a world-famous maritime city of culture and sport, which combines excellent transport links, and regional beauty with a world heritage skyline and is highly ranked on quality of life in the UK, while remaining one of Britain's most affordable cities.
ULMS is seeking to appoint a Lecturer with research interests in the field of Gambling Studies. You will undertake quantitative analysis as part of a research programme which examines gambling behaviour and ways to address gambling harm, whilst also lecturing in sports analytics on the School’s sports postgraduate programmes. Funded by industry you will spend 50% of your time on gambling studies working with an active research group focussed on the study of gambling behaviour and gambling harm within the Centre for Sports Business, and 50% of your time in student facing activities. The post offers the opportunity to contribute to a research field that is growing both nationally and internationally in response to the need for evidence-based public policy.
You will join one of the six Subject Groups in the Management School depending on your disciplinary background, as well as the Centre for Sports Business. You will contribute to teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in your discipline.
