Background
The School of Communication and Creativity brings together our renowned Department of Journalism with two new Departments of Media, Culture and Creative Industries, and Performing Arts. The School will support and develop the next generation of practitioners to work across the cultural, creative and media sectors. We will offer a range of new and existing practice-based degrees in publishing, creative writing, journalism, creative industries, music, theatre, sound, media and communication. The School is committed to building links for internships and employment pathways with the sectors through practice-based and collaborative
learning.
The Journalism Department at City St George's, University of London has been a leader in its field since 1976, with an unrivalled record of getting graduates into the best jobs in journalism. The Department is ranked number one in the UK for graduate outcomes in Communication and Media (Complete University Guide 2024) and many of its 7000+ alumni now occupy senior positions in the media across the world. Based in the centre of London, the Department has strong industry links, regular high-profile events, and a professional-grade studio and journalism facilities.
Responsibilities
We are looking to appoint two Lecturers in Journalism, the appointed applicants will contribute to the development and delivery of our excellent undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will also have the potential to take leadership roles, undertake administrative and management activities.
Person Specification
These are open positions, but we encourage applications from those with a background in digital, or broadcast (in particular audio) journalism.
If appointed on an Education and Research profile, you will carry out international research that contributes to the School strategy, is high-impact, and outward-looking towards industry and society.
