We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Fire Studies to support the School of Engineering and Computing in delivering its commitments to teaching, research and income generation within our fire provision. The post will support the future operation and enhancement of the undergraduate and postgraduate fire programmes and contribute to the teaching of our fire related programmes – including supervision of level 6 and 7 projects and postgraduate research students.
About you:
The successful applicant must have experience of teaching in a higher education environment in fire studies or a similar area, with outstanding delivery and learning support. You will have a BEng / BSc and/or MSc in a Fire area or similar subject, with appropriate subject specialism(s) to include (but not limited to): Fire Safetyand Fire Leadership Management. Having a teaching qualification is desirable but not essential as support towards achieving this would be given.
Utilising excellent communication skills, the successful applicant will have an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and to be able to develop links and opportunities with industrial partners. The School of Engineering & Computing has further been successful in the setting up and running engineering courses overseas, requiring the successful applicant to have the ability and willingness to work overseas for short periods.
