We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Civil Engineering to support the School of Engineering and Computing in delivering its commitments to teaching, research and income generation in the general area of civil engineering and construction. The post holder will support the future operation and enhancement of the undergraduate and postgraduate civil engineering programmes and contribute to the teaching of our civil engineering related programmes – including supervision of level 6 and 7 projects and postgraduate research students.
About you:
The successful applicant will have a successful track record of research or industrial experience in Civil Engineering and an ability to develop research activity. Particular specialisms of interest to the School would include: Civil Engineering Materials as well as an ability to teach relevant design and modelling software. A BEng/MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering (or similar engineering related subject) is essential along with teaching experience in Higher Education to first-degree level and a relevant professional qualification, eg CEng (Chartered Engineer) with a UK Institution or equivalent.
Utilising excellent communication skills, the successful applicants will have an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and to be able to develop links and opportunities with industrial partners. The School of Engineering & Computing has further been successful in the setting up and running engineering courses overseas, requiring the successful applicant to have the ability and willingness to work overseas for short periods.
