Computing at the University of Central Lancashire is evolving. As part of the School of Engineering and Computing, we are building on our established strengths in Software Engineering, Games/VR, HCI/UX, and Cyber Security. Our goal is to expand our student and staff community and create new opportunities in teaching and research. We aim to become a leading player in computing in the North-West region, recognized nationally for our excellence in teaching, knowledge exchange, industry engagement, and research.

About the role:

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Computing, specialising in AI/Data Science, to drive our mission of becoming a leading player in computing in the North-West region. This role is crucial for advancing our academic delivery, research, and knowledge exchange, ensuring we achieve high academic quality and maintain our reputational integrity. Your contributions will directly impact our growth and evolution, helping us to expand our influence and success in the field of computing.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our computing programs, bringing your enthusiastic approach to foster a collaborative team environment. About you:

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in advancing our vision of excellence in computing education and research. This position offers you the opportunity to grow and develop as an academic, building strong, co-creational relationships within our team and across the university. You will engage in multi-disciplinary collaborations and partnerships on a national and international scale. Your expertise will enhance our teaching and assessment practices, contributing to our reputation in the computing domain. By modelling professional standards and supporting an inclusive culture, you will help create an environment where both students and staff can thrive. You will have a good honours degree (or equivalent) in a STEM computing related subject and PhD in a relevant subject area. We would also welcome applications from a Maths/Physics background where the handling, analysis and visualisation of large/big data, in a computational setting applying AI/ML/Data Science is a substantive aspect of your experience.

Please contact Prof Rob Aspin or Dr Stephen Sigurnjak for further details or to discuss this opportunity.
