The School of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science are recruiting for an Executive Assistant to the Dean of School. The successful candidate will be joining us in an exciting time of change and development, with a new Dean in post who completed a rigorous interview process to gain promotion from Deputy Dean and our move next year into a brand new £88 million building designed specifically for the School. You will be working with an experienced team of professional staff, with an opportunity to develop your leadership skills.

Main duties and responsibilities
To provide comprehensive executive assistance to the Dean of School and to provide a full administrative service to the School Senior Management Group across a broad range of activities. This will require the post holder to provide co-ordinated administrative support for areas including human resources, financial and strategic planning, academic planning, marketing and communications and project co-ordination relating specifically to the needs of the school. You will be required to ensure accurate completion of School related administration in full compliance with legal and University requirements.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide a strong customer-facing service to both internal and external contacts and in many instances will be the first point of contact for the Dean/Associate Deans of School. This role requires a high level of initiative as well as sound personal judgement in handling confidential and sensitive material.
Skills and experience required
You will have appropriate proven administrative experience of working in a complex and dynamic organisation and ideally experience of working in Higher Education administration.
You will have excellent written and oral communication skills. You will have excellent organisation, planning and administrative skills, the ability to work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines and to deal with conflicting demands and conflicting priorities. You will have very good IT skills, specifically MSOffice. The ability to deal with sensitive material with strict confidentiality is essential.
Qualifications required
Educated to a minimum of degree level or an equivalent standard, or significant proven professional work experience.
