About us

The Division of Infection and Immunity is part of the UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences. The Division is a lively academic community combining a range of clinical and non-clinical research, teaching, technical and administrative support staff who all work together towards developing a better understanding of the human immune system, host-pathogen interactions and the translation of knowledge into new diagnostic tools and treatments for the benefit of patients. We have staff working across sites in Bloomsbury, Royal Free in London and KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa at the Africa Health Research Institute.

About the role

An enthusiastic, proactive and resourceful individual is sought for this part-time post, which is available immediately and will be based at both the Bloomsbury Campus and Hampstead Campus. The post-holder will be responsible for providing administrative and PA support to the Director of the Division of Infection and Immunity to support the smooth functioning of the Division as a whole. The Division of Infection and Immunity is an exciting and dynamic environment driving forward ambitious and challenging plans for future development. This is a pivotal post within the Divisional professional services team and provides an excellent opportunity for the right applicant to develop a career in university administration. The Administrative Assistant is a busy, varied, and interesting role that offers you the opportunity to gain experience across a wide variety of administrative activities.

The post-holder will report to Isabelle Wilson (isabelle.wilson@ucl.ac.uk). The position is fixed term for one year in the first instance.

About you

The role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL and requires a highly organised and efficient individual with a professional attitude, willingness to help, and the ability to remain diplomatic and tactful at all times in order to successfully execute their duties. Applicants should be educated to A level standard, or NVQ Level IV administration, or have substantial relevant experience. Experience of working in an administrative position, incorporating an EA/PA role, in a large or complex organisation is essential. Excellent interpersonal skills, including diplomacy and discretion are essential. Good knowledge and understanding of the Higher Education sector are desirable. Candidates should possess excellent organisational skills, time management and project management skills, including the ability to work effectively on multiple projects simultaneously.
