The University has flexible location principles, but there is an expectation that this post, will where be required, be able to be on campus any day of the working week.
We are looking to appoint a Technical Lead with substantial proven experience of design and delivery of a full stack of technology solutions across a large or complex service operation, who will successfully support the delivery of a new Student Record System, on time and on budget, through a new programme of work, i.e. Project Phoenix.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Technical Lead – Project Phoenix will be responsible for managing, agreeing and controlling the technical architecture relating to the replacement student record system (Project Phoenix). They will identify and own architectural and other technically based risk and work with the Lead Business Analyst to evaluate the technical options and decide the best way to turn the high-level business requirements into a technical solution.
You will undertake strategic and operational planning to determine the technical environment of the new student record system, identify and take responsibility for mitigating architectural and other technically based risks and ensure the non-functional requirements are achievable and subsequently met. The Technical Lead – Project phoenix will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate standards of technical best practice are applied, quality assuring all technical solutions and approving as technically fit for purpose prior to development and ensuring the solution provides robust architecture and successful integration with other systems across the University enterprise. You will be managing other technical personnel to deliver on: integrations, testing and reporting.
Skills and experience required
You will have substantial proven practical expertise and experience at an appropriate level of responsibility in design, implementation and management of IT systems, substantial proven expertise and experience in data modelling, mapping and analysis and experience of managing work activities which require a high level of collaborative working, time management and technical skills in a busy environment. Experience and understanding of the technical architecture relating to a Higher Education student record system and experience of providing technical leadership in a complex environment are essential for this role.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with a minimum of a Degree or equivalent or proven administrative experience. A relevant professional qualification and/or relevant accreditation is also essential.
