Grade 8: £48,235 - £57,255 per annum including the Oxford University Weighting of £1,500 per annum
Fixed-term (one year), full time (37.5 hours per week)
Are you passionate about student wellbeing and eager to make a meaningful impact in a world-class academic environment? Saïd Business School is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Student Wellbeing to coordinate and enhance the support and welfare services available to our diverse student community.
As the Head of Student Wellbeing, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for students at Oxford Saïd. You will be responsible for ensuring that students receive high-quality advice and support in wellbeing matters while aligning with University and HE sector policies, as well as relevant legislation.
This role focuses on triage rather than individual counselling, ensuring that students are directed to the most appropriate internal and external services. You will also be responsible for developing and directing proactive wellbeing initiatives, overseeing structured support programmes, and acting as the School’s safeguarding lead.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide expert guidance and signposting for students on wellbeing matters, referring them to appropriate internal and external services.
- Act as the Disability Lead, overseeing the implementation of Student Support Plans and ensuring compliance with University policies.
- Oversee local case management of complex student wellbeing concerns, liaising with relevant University services and legal advisors as required.
- Develop and implement initiatives that promote wellbeing, including events and campaigns aimed at fostering respectful and inclusive student behaviour.
- Build and sustain internal student support networks, including working with the SBS Peer Support Network.
You will possess a thorough understanding of student wellbeing in the HE sector, along with key compliance and legislative considerations. A proactive, student-centric approach is essential, as is a proven track record of leadership, mediation and relationship-building with students, faculty and senior staff. The role demands excellent communication, diplomacy and conflict-resolution skills, alongside strong time management and the ability to prioritise complex cases.
