The role
The University of Manchester operates one of the largest single site campus networks in the UK and is currently undergoing a major transformation of all its LAN, Data Centre and DDI infrastructure.
The role is a 12-month Fixed term Contract aligned to providing Network expertise specifically for the Network 2030 Program. Working on a number of projects formed to enhance and reshape the LAN and WAN provision to University Campus.
The role will suit an experienced engineer with a breadth of networking knowledge and experience covering LAN/WAN/Wireless and Data Centre network design and operation.
The successful applicant will be focused on providing Network support and solutions for our Network 2030 program, working with our network architect and network partner to assure the delivery and ongoing development of our network services including the Aruba SD-LAN and Arista SD-DC that we are currently rolling out across our sites.
The role will also include developing our network policy and DDI environment to help us migrate to a more agile, automated, identity driven network service.
Working within a small team you will provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) across our technology stack (HPE Aruba, Cisco & Arista) and assure that any designs and deployments are agreed with our network architect prior to implementation and that they are fit-for-purpose and adhere to our strategic principles.
