We are looking to recruit a Public Engagement (Postdoctoral Research) Fellow to join the recently launched Centre for Net Positive Health and Climate Solutions (Net+ Centre). The post is available from 1st April 2025 until 30th September 2028. The Net+ Centre is led from the European Centre for Environment and Human Health on Penryn Campus; however, hybrid working is welcome. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.
The Net+ Centre launched on 1st of October 2024 and is a five-year research centre funded by UKRI. It is led by the University of Exeter alongside core partners at the UK Health Security Agency, The National Trust and Forest Research (and many other partners across sectors). The key aim of the Net+ Centre is to establish interdisciplinary research infrastructure, partnerships and capacity that will proactively deliver novel, impactful research on climate change and health with a focus on environmental-social-health inequalities. Key topics include resilient green and blue infrastructure, resilient urban environments and resilient food systems.
The Public Engagement Fellow will provide leadership and guidance on the delivery of the Centre’s vision for engaged research and public engagement. The Fellow will work with colleagues across the Centre and partners to deliver highly engaged research and will help build a wider community of engaged researchers. They will do this through offering training, consultation and advice to the Centre’s postdoctoral fellows (whose projects will include an engaged research element), as well as to Challenge Fund recipients and other affiliated researchers and partners. Practical assistance will be provided in matching researchers and relevant publics, and researchers and partners to relevant opportunities.
About you
The successful applicant will possess a relevant PhD or equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study with experience and recognised authority in engaged research working with diverse publics and other stakeholders in policy/practice and participatory and/or creative methods. The successful applicant will be able to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary research teams and across sectors, supervise the work of others and act as team leader as required. Applicants will be able to develop a strategic plan for public engagement for the Net+ Centre, and to develop capacity and training for engaged research and public engagement.
Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification (available on the university's website, accessed by the 'Apply' button) for full details of this role.
