Special Collections and Archives have received funding to sort, repackage and catalogue several archive collections. The majority of collections that are the focus of this project form part of the UK Philanthropy Archive. This is a national archive collection of the papers of trusts, foundations, philanthropists and fundraisers, which comprise a research collection supporting the study of the history and current practice of philanthropy and fundraising in the UK. One additional collection is also included in this project which relates to the study of the history of pantomime and comic performance.
The collections that will form part of this cataloguing project include: The papers of the John Ellerman Foundation, The papers of the Wates Foundation, The papers of the Hilden Charitable Trust, The papers of the Craigmyle Fundraising Consultancy (remaining papers following a previous partially completed cataloguing project) and The David Drummond Pantomime Collection (remaining papers following a previous partially completed cataloguing project).
The purpose of this role is to catalogue, preserve and make available these archive collections and to promote the archives as a pre-eminent source of primary source materials to enhance the study of philanthropy, fundraising and theatre.
