We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant in Colorectal Cancer to join the Centre for Human Genetics within the Nuffield Department of Medicine.
You will be reporting to the Principal Investigator Professor Simon Leedham and you will undertake provision of research work to support the colorectal cancer - Stem Cells and Adaptive Molecular Phenotype (CRC-STAMP) programme.
You will be responsible for undertaking work as required in cancer genetics, including sample preparation, genotyping, mutation screening, planning crosses, drug administration, making transgenics, undertaking basic procedures of husbandry, cell culture, lentiviral transfection, tissue preparation and analysis, functional assays and other work as necessary. You will manage your own research and administrative activities, within guidelines provided by senior colleagues. You will contribute to discussions and share research findings with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups.
It is essential that you hold a degree in molecular biology or a relevant subject. You will have experience of basic methods of molecular genetics. You will be able to manage own research and administrative activities, have excellent communication skills, including the ability to write text that can be published, present data at conferences, and represent the research group at meetings. You will have the ability to work well independently or as part of a team and you will be able to organise and prioritise work efficiently whilst delivering results to required standard and to an agreed schedule.
