Queen Mary University of London is a prestigious Russell Group institution that stands for its commitment to research and education excellence and its dedication to social justice and social mobility. With a rich history dating back to 1785 and beyond, we are proud to be a diverse community consisting of over 33,000 students and over 6,000 staff members from more than 170 nationalities.
Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through world-leading academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers. It’s an approach that has brought results across the globe, from the communities of east London to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
The University is seeking an exceptional candidate for the role of Vice-Principal for Humanities and Social Sciences and member of its Senior Executive Team. This individual will provide strong and inspirational leadership not only within one of the University’s three faculties but more broadly across the institution. We have an outstanding heritage and expertise across the humanities and social sciences and are seeking a Vice-Principal with the vision and proven ability to shape the faculty, and build a financially robust model, within an ever-changing, and currently challenging, global environment. A passion, and track-record, for ensuring academic excellence and working across disciplines in the furtherance of excellence is critical.
We seek a Vice-Principal who will offer effective leadership, foster collaboration, and empower others. The ideal candidate will possess credible academic credentials and a proven track record of leadership, coupled with a genuine passion for unwavering quality and innovation in higher education. Above all, they will embody our values and mission.
The University is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and would welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
Applications are invited at your earliest convenience, and in any event by no later than 5pm on Friday 21st February 2025.
