An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly-motivated individual who is pursuing a career in Public Health Economic Modelling.
You will work on a methodological research project relating to Data innovation with public health perspectives funded through NIHR SPHR Area for Research Innovation (AfRI). The research will analyse multiple datasets to triangulate data and methods improve our understanding of public health impacts of interventions. Our planned topic area is around mental health, smoking and health and work outcomes. It is planned to include integrated analysis of the datasets Understanding Society, Labour Force Survey, National Study of Health and Wellbeing (aka Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey), Health Survey for England, and the Living Costs & Food Survey.
The research team is at the forefront, nationally and internationally, of developing and implementing of public health economic modelling and microsimulation to support decision making and impact.
In addition to project work you will contribute to dissemination of research findings through peer-reviewed publications, academic conferences and through engagement with policy and practice stakeholders and the public.
You will also have the opportunity to develop your methodological research interests, contribute to the development and delivery of Masters level teaching, and supervise postgraduate research students.
You should have a Masters and PhD, or equivalent work experience, in public health economic modelling and microsimulation, knowledge of statistical and machine learning approaches and demonstrate skills in R software. We are looking for someone who will develop their emerging track record of peer-reviewed publications and research impact.
