This full-time permanent post is available in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy.
The role
We are seeking a full-time, internationally recognized leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) who has demonstrated the ability to attract and inspire world-class academics to join their research group. The successful candidate will be an innovative and visionary researcher with a strong, current record of research funding and international quality publications.
We are particularly interested in individuals whose work demonstrates a high level of originality and rigor, contributing new insights and methodologies that push the boundaries of AI. This position requires a researcher who not only excels in their own research but who can also provide leadership and mentorship, fostering a dynamic and productive research environment. The ability to engage with industry, secure collaborations, and drive impactful AI innovations is essential.
Through our Accelerating Data Science and AI (ADA) Programme, we are seeking to grow our core capabilities in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, by initially investing £25 million in 45 new academic posts across Maths of AI, Core Machine Learning, Computer Vision, AI for Healthcare, Environmental Intelligence, Datacentric Engineering and Software Engineering. We expect to follow this up with further investment across the faculties to put Data Science and AI at the heart of all of the programmes we deliver at the University.
We are looking to recruit research leaders in each of these fields to help us deliver on our goals of establishing Exeter as one of the leading places to work on cross-disciplinary Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, with particular focus on our core strengths and seeking to build a Greener, Healthier and Fairer Society (Strategy 2030).
