The Opportunity: 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University’s Health and Safety Department, reporting to the Deputy Director Health and Wellbeing. The Staff Wellbeing Services Lead, is a new role with responsibility to assist the Deputy Director to shape and deliver the strategy for mental health and wellbeing across the University. 

The Health and Safety Department assist the University to deliver University Strategy 2030 and enable the support of its values, regarding our staff, students, and community. The University is a world leading research-intensive institution, providing a stimulating and interesting working environment for the delivery of this role. The Department’s new senior leadership team deliver our area’s remit through three teams; which work together to build on and facilitate the delivery of our University’s safety, health and wellbeing management system and deliver continuous improvement. 

The Staff Wellbeing Services Lead, will lead, plan and deliver the University’s psychosocial support service which comprises of staff counselling arrangements and management advice while contributing to the delivery of wider mental health and wellbeing initiatives and programmes of work. The role will support wider University strategy as it relates to staff wellbeing, including the University’s new Framework for Mental Health in 2025. 

This post is full time (35 hours per week) and the preferred delivery of this role is on a full-time basis, however, we are open to considering flexible working patterns.  We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.  

The salary for this post is £49,250 to £60321 per annum. 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

Educated to degree level or equivalent, holding a professional qualification in a relevant field such as counselling, mental health nursing, social work, psychology, mental health or related field

Experience in managing service provision, including 3rd party services in a relevant field (health/counselling/wellbeing)

Experience of operating at a senior level in a diverse, complex organisation to drive forward innovation and change

Understanding of health and wellbeing challenges in a university context to create a healthy working environment where staff wellbeing is prioritised and staff feel supported and motivated
