We seek a biologist with an interest in arthropod-borne pathogen transmission to join our Vector-Borne Diseases workgroup to manage the delivery of a project on tick-borne disease. This will combine field survey data for tick abundance with laboratory-based analysis of tick submissions. This will involve liaison with customer-facing departments of the Agency and external bodies such as the UK Health Security Agency and the academic sector. The role will involve working in SAPO4/ACDP3 containment laboratories and contributing to the maintenance of the APHA insectary facilities. You will be working as part of an active research team working on diverse projects linked to vector-borne disease transmission. The successful candidate will have a knowledge of animal and zoonotic pathogens and a broad understanding of molecular techniques, including qPCR, genomic sequencing and bioinformatic analysis.
