Role Description
Department
The University of York Centre of Excellence in Anaerobic Digestion (CEAD) aims to carry out basic and applied, industrially relevant, research that can be used to improve process scale anaerobic digestion (AD) and other industrial biotechnological processes that rely on mixed microbial communities. This 12-month post is associated with a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between CEAD and Yorkshire Water (YW) to support their AD Transformation research programme. You will be embedded in the Yorkshire Water Innovation Team, spending time at Yorkshire Water sites as well as accessing Yorkshire Water's System-60 facility housed in CEAD at the University of York.
Role
You will be expected to conduct and coordinate collaborative research projects to support Yorkshire Water's goals of transforming their AD operations. You will train and supervise technical staff to ensure the continued effective operation of Yorkshire Water's small scale anaerobic digestion facility (System-60) housed in CEAD in addition to overseeing pilot-scale experiments. You will collaborate and communicate with colleagues across both organisations, building networks and routes for communication that support the rapid development of anaerobic digestion innovations based on process-relevant data and the embedding of AD innovations within Yorkshire Water’s operations team.
