About this role
We are seeking to appoint a permanent post as Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Propulsion, to help develop and contribute to teaching, research, and knowledge exchange within the School of Engineering.
Advancements in technology are paving the way to address some of the most pressing challenges in aerospace engineering. These include achieving zero-emission, sustainable solutions for future aviation, developing energy-efficient and reusable space access systems, and ensuring the safety and reliability of autonomous systems powered by AI and machine learning. To lead innovation in these critical areas, the ideal candidate will bring a robust and diverse skill set, with a strong ability to lead students through the foundational principles as well as cutting-edge innovation in this field.

About you
We require candidates that have a diverse skill set and is well-versed in guiding students through the core concepts of Aerospace Propulsion. Specifically, we are looking for individuals with expertise encompassing conventional and advanced aircraft and spacecraft propulsion systems, electrification, hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, and aircraft design. We highly value candidates who have a background and knowledge that can help develop our aspiring student engineers.

Candidates should have, or near completion of, postgraduate qualification in in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. If from a professional practice/industry background, successful applicants will have a qualification equivalent to degree level (or above) together with relevant professional experience within the Aerospace and Propulsion sector. A teaching qualification and experience of teaching in higher education is advantageous.
Candidates should be able to showcase evidence of their continuous professional growth in relevant subject areas. The Appointee will be part of a team supporting delivery of all Aerospace Engineering and Propulsion related modules.
