Faculty of Health, Social Care and Education School of Social Work and Mental Health offer an exciting opportunity for a full-time Lecturer in Social Work to join the Social Work team (Think Ahead Programme). Post can be based in London and also available for remote working with interested candidates residing in the Midlands, North West or North East of England (with travel for placement visits and Hendon Campus teaching and meetings).
We are seeking to appoint one Lecturer in Social Work to join our Social Work Academic Group. Middlesex University is the academic partner for Think Ahead; a national, mental health social work programme. The Social Work Academic Group is part of the School of Social Work and Mental Health which is an exciting, multidisciplinary group of academics delivering high-quality professional programmes and research.
The successful candidate will have a proven background in social work practice and academic qualifications at postgraduate level (normally masters or equivalent). You should be able to work collaboratively, and have some experience of delivering high quality teaching and facilitation of learning within a university and/or in practice settings as a Practice Educator or mentor. Candidates should have some practice experience in mental health and also have skills and knowledge in child and family and adult social work.
As the Think Ahead programme is a national programme, with students undertaking their practice experiences across England, the post holder will be assigned to cover placement units located across England which requires regular travel with a hybrid-working model of online and on campus teaching (London) with regional recall teaching days.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service certificate. You are therefore required to disclose details of any criminal record. ALL criminal convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings, even if they would otherwise be regarded as spent under this Act must be disclosed, as well as any other information that may have a bearing on your suitability for the post, including pending prosecutions.
The University will apply for a DBS certificate before your appointment is confirmed.
If you wish to discuss the job in further detail please contact Edd Carter, Director of Programmes, Social Work (Think Ahead) e.carter@mdx.ac.uk.
