About the Role
This is an IT Services role embedded within the School of the Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. The post holder will provide an overall view of IT systems provision and requirements for research in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and will oversee its implementation and support. A significant amount of the post holder’s time will be spent supporting projects associated with the School’s research groups' activities in Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. The post holder will also be responsible for all aspects of ethics and information security relating to computer systems and networks within the School. They will work closely with our Campus Support IT teams embedded within the School and the rest of the IT Services Research team.
About You
Applications are invited for a motivated and committed IT engineer to support the researchers of the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. The successful candidate will manage the Linux and network infrastructure within the academic school and liaise with colleagues in IT Services on promotion and development of current and future services.
Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in Telecommunications/Computer Science/Electronic Engineering. It is essential for candidates to have considerable experience in Linux systems administration as well as expertise in computer networking and programming in Python, Perl or Bash. Some experience in working in a research environment would be desirable.
