About the Role
Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Biostatistics/Health Data Science to work within the Clinical Effectiveness Group (CEG) in the Centre for Primary Care, Wolfson Institute of Population Health (WIPH). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the Wolfson Institute of Population Health and the research field of Health Data Science. They will conduct high-quality research to promote multidisciplinary research in advanced statistical/data mining methods for life course analyses using electronic health records, and other longitudinal and biomedical data sources. They will make contributions to student education and experience through curriculum development and the delivery of teaching activities in the subject area of medical statistics and health data science.

About You
You must have experience of using electronic health records or longitudinal cohorts for research, with (or working towards) a PhD in epidemiology, statistics, data science (or related fields) or equivalent professional experience. Experience in developing risk prediction models with statistical or machine learning techniques would be desirable. You should be enthusiastically committed to conducting research that makes an impact, and its dissemination to intended audiences. You should be a team player, committed to delivering QMUL research and teaching strategy; and providing high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project
WIPH is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to around 450 staff, 100 PhD students and 500 postgraduate taught students. It harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine. The Institute is organised into six research centres which, though complementary and following the Institute’s strategic plan, also have Centre-specific objectives and requirements.

CEG carries out research to improve population health, reduce health inequalities, and innovate, develop, and deliver quality improvement programmes using electronic health records from primary care, acute care and other settings.
