If you offer extensive procurement experience, enjoy delivering value for money and mitigating risk, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a dynamic procurement team that covers the entire portfolio of spend within a world leading university.
As Procurement Category Manager you will work across all categories, with a particular focus on professional services and academic procurement requirements, as well as digital & technology, and estates, collaborating with senior stakeholders to drive value for money, ensuring compliance with legislative regulations and governance structures.
You will develop your category strategy, develop and lead sourcing plans and tendering, manage contract negotiations and support supplier performance management. You will need to develop strong working relationships to support best practice sourcing for below threshold purchasing and consolidate disaggregated spend into approved agreements.
About you
You will have achieved a professional MCIPS / NVQ level 5 or above or be working towards achieving this, in addition to extensive experience of working in a procurement role in a complex environment.
Significant experience in a range of category management and procurement programmes, delivering significant change is essential.
You will also need experience and success in managing senior level contract negotiations with large suppliers and stakeholders as well as experience of building successful internal working relationships with budget managers and other stakeholders.
An ability to analyse external markets and reports to inform procurement strategy and financial decision making is equally important, as is specialist knowledge of procurement practices, including sourcing, contract management, procurement law, EU/UK procurement directives and public contract regulations.
