Job Summary
The post holder will be responsible for development and implementation of pre-sessional and transition support for students from widening participation backgrounds as part of the university’s commitments in its Access and Participation Plan (APP). This will include project management of a residential programme for students at the pre-enrolment stage to support transition into the university and development of resources and provision to support widening participation students in preparation for and during their time at the university. These activities will also include developing resources and support provision for members of staff from across the University who engage with students from widening participation backgrounds, for example, personal tutors.
This position requires excellent organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise a busy workload effectively in order to meet given objectives, adjusting priorities as necessary in response to changing circumstances or problems and demonstrating a flexible approach. Working independently, they will be expected to resolve the majority of issues and may only report progress and results.
The post holder will be expected to develop positive working relationships with a broad range of individuals and work effectively across teams and will need strong written and oral communication skills. They will be expected to have experience of working in higher education, with an interest in social mobility, learning, teaching and the student experience and will, ideally, have experience of working in a project support role.
