About the role:

As Welfare Officer, you will be joining a small team responsible for delivering vital pastoral services within the undergraduate School of Medicine. Supporting over 2500 students, you will play a key role in supporting, and improving, the student experience. You’ll be based in the Faculty Education Office where we coordinate the student journey from admission to graduation, providing first-line services to students, supporting strategy and policy development, financial management, communications, governance and quality.

What you would be doing:

You will be responsible for providing welfare advice and guidance to undergraduate students and staff, including involvement in complex student cases and escalating where appropriate. You will also be involved in liaising with other support services, both internal and external, to ensure there is a coordinated approach to student support. An integral part of the welfare officer role will be supporting the Student Services Manager and Director of Student Support in identifying opportunities for improvement of existing welfare procedures, developing and progressing student experience projects and implementing positive changes to student support.

  • Ability to work under pressure and respond flexibly to non-routine issues as they arise

Further Information

Please note this role is a fixed term contract for 10 months, commencing from January 2025.

There is a possibility of secondment for internal candidates.

You will be based at South Kensington Campus with occasional travel to other campuses as required. The role will be hybrid and split between on-site/ working from home.
