The College of Engineering, Design & Physical Sciences is one of the largest Colleges of its type in the UK, with over 4,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. The College is comprised of the Brunel Design School and six departments that cover Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics. We are leading and distinctive in STEM education and knowledge provision, and a leading multidisciplinary research-intensive college for excellence in research and innovation in engineering.
Applicants are invited from highly motivated individuals with a doctoral degree or working towards a doctoral degree in an area related to industrial waste heat recovery and upgrade using high temperature heat pumps. The successful candidate will be involved in theoretical and analytical research, design and numerical modelling of high temperature heat pump systems with particular focus on compression systems addressing thermodynamics, gas dynamics and mechanical aspects.
The candidate is expected to master skills in programming analytical models and apply Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for real gases and use Finite Element models for thermal, structural and rotor dynamic analyses.
