We are seeking an effective and committed leader as Director of Strategic Planning and Performance. Middlesex is a global university committed to transforming lives through education and to meeting the needs and ambitions of a culturally and internationally diverse range of students. With campuses in London, Dubai and Mauritius, Middlesex University prepares its students to be professional, skilled individuals fit for the modern world, committed to life-long learning, and able to contribute to the communities in which they live and work.
The Director of Strategic Planning and Performance will be responsible for providing leadership of strategic planning and data initiatives as well as oversight of project governance across all activity at Middlesex University. Priorities will include ensuring that: (i) there is an integrated planning and budgeting process aligned with the University’s five-year plan; (ii) the University can deliver accurate statutory returns on the basis of reliable and consistent data; and (iii) there is robust project governance. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and part of the University Senior Management Group, the post-holder will monitor and report on the implementation of the University’s strategic plan. They will develop a data strategy to enhance the University’s data capabilities. The post-holder will head up a new Planning function, and will therefore be responsible for recruiting and building a strong team.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced strategic planner with a background in higher education. They will bring planning and project management experience, and will be skilled at delivering change. They will bring a collaborative approach and will enjoy working with stakeholders across the university. They will bring a natural customer service mindset. They will strive for efficiency and effectiveness in their areas of responsibility, and will understand the importance of managing their resources carefully at a time of increasing constraint for the sector. They will likely have a passion for the role of education in social mobility and therefore feel a strong connection to the mission and values of the University.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a mark in UK Higher Education. Candidates will be attracted to the prospect of contributing to the next ambitious phase in Middlesex University’s development.
