About the role
We are looking for a fixed-term Research Assistant to work with the Centre for Dementia Studies, Brighton and Sussex Medical School. This post is funded by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration Kent Surrey Sussex (ARC KSS).
The post holder will provide direct research support to three Research Fellows, Dr Polack, Dr Bell, and Dr Bosco. The post holder will work on different dementia research projects, within the ARC KSS Living Well with Dementia theme, including on psychological wellbeing, emergency crisis care, and social isolation.
This role will involve a variety of research activities, including assisting with the recruitment of study participants, data collection and analysis, contributing to publications, and supporting public and patient involvement activities.
There will be substantial scope for research development, through training opportunities as well as practical experience of data collection, analysis, and dissemination across three different dementia research projects. The post holder will be supported to identify their training and career development needs and will have dedicated time for their professional development. A DBS check may be required for this role.
About you
This exciting eight-month post is an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated researcher who is keen to develop their mixed-methods and dementia research skills.
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent qualification in a related discipline (e.g., health, social science, psychology) or the relevant working experience. You will have the skills to work independently (under the supervision of the Principal Investigator) and as part of a team. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and external audiences. You will have good organisational and administrative skills and be able to prioritise and meet deadlines. Previous experience with conducting health or social science research is desirable. However, training opportunities to develop mixed-method research skills will be available.
