Outstanding candidates whose research sits within international social and public policy, broadly defined, are invited to apply. We are particularly interested in those working on housing (and issues of insecurity and sustainability) and policy and/or those with substantive expertise in Latin American policy contexts, but we will consider excellent candidates working on other areas of international social and public policy. Our department is multi-disciplinary with scholars from Anthropology, Criminology, Demography, Development Studies, Economics, History, International Relations, Law, Political Science, Psychology, Social Policy, and Sociology. As a mixed methods department, we value diversity of research methodology and epistemology.

Candidates will have:

  • A completed PhD (or be close to obtaining one) in social and public policy or a related area by the post start date;
  • A track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications in social and public policy;
  • Proven ability, as evidenced by existing publications, or potential to publish in top journals or with leading book publishers;
  • A clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research in social and public policy that has the potential to result in world-leading publications;
  • The ability to teach core and specialist courses in international social and public policy at BSc and MSc levels, to supervise PhD students in international social and public policy; and
  • A commitment to high quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment for students, including pastoral care.
