The Department of International Relations is looking to appoint the next Montague Burton Chair in International Relations.
International Relations (IR) has been taught at LSE since 1924 when Philip Noel-Baker was appointed to a new, privately-endowed Chair of International Relations. The Department, which was set up three years later, was not only the first of its kind, but has remained a leading world centre for the development of the subject ever since.
The post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, fostering collegiality and participating in the School and wider Department activities.
The successful candidate should have a proven record of outstanding research, evidenced by existing publications of the highest quality in top ranked journals and leading university presses. They should have a clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that will result in further world-leading publications, and have an outstanding reputation in International Relations or a closely related subject. They should have a significant track record of excellence in teaching in one or more areas covered by the Department, and a commitment to high quality teaching and fostering a positive learning environment. They should have a track record in providing leadership in department and/or school administration and experience of mentoring and developing colleagues to support them in their career development.
