About the Role
The purpose of this role is to be a team member involved in preparing and caring for those donors in accordance with the law including embalming, dissecting, keeping accurate records and making funeral preparations.
Preparing and assisting with classes, projects and courses including some liaising with internal and external users, in house training will be given in all aspects including making expert dissections, maintaining equipment, assisting with demonstrating anatomy, supporting users of the rooms.
As it can be an emotionally challenging environment for some users it is essential that the role holder will be empathetic towards them.
The role is mainly based on the Guys campus however there may be occasions when the post holder is required to assist in other labs across other London campuses.

This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- Minimum level 3 qualification, e.g. A levels, AS levels, International Baccalaureate diploma or other Level 3 qualification, plus work experience in a relevant technical/scientific post(s) OR Knowledge and skills gained through work experience in relevant technical, healthcare or scientific posts.
- A basic understanding of the Human Tissue Act 2004 as well as the ability to work with human remains in a respectful manner
- Empathetic and communications skills /previous customer, patient, or similar work experience,
- Proven teamwork skills
- Knowledge of topographical human anatomy or willingness to learn
- Dissection or similar fine motor skills
- Experienced in accurate record keeping/attention to detail
- A reasonable level of physical fitness is needed for this role
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of a commitment to professional development, including professional registration, such as RSciTech and a willingness to learn new techniques.
- First aid, mental health first aid and fire marshal training or willingness to train
- Experience or knowledge of basic infection control
- Experience in using audio/visual and other technological equipment
