About the Role
Applications are invited for the post of School Manager in the School of Engineering and Materials Science.
This post is a part of the School leadership team, providing strategic and operational direction for the School. Leading the School’s Professional Services team(s), the role holder will have a particular focus on ensuring the administrative infrastructure and services within the school are delivered effectively and respond appropriately to strategic and operational challenges and will play a central role in supporting and enabling the strategic aims of the School and Faculty more broadly.
This role is hybrid, but it is expected that the postholder will be working on site for three days a week. Interviews are expected to be held in the week beginning 9th December 2024. The role will be available from March 2025.
About You
Candidates should have demonstrable management experience, ideally in a Higher Education environment, with experience of managing a diverse team of professional staff, as well as financial operational and strategic planning and implementation at a senior level.

The School of Engineering and Materials Science is one of five schools in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The School is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to over 2500 taught students, 165 Postgraduate Research students, 140 teaching and research staff and 48 professional services colleagues. Our research is highly collaborative, working with colleagues across all three faculties and supported by partnerships with industry, NHS and other stakeholders.
