About us
We are UCL: a diverse community with the freedom to challenge and think differently. From cancer research to climate change, dementia to social inequality, the world is facing huge challenges and we’re determined to solve them.
The portfolio of the Vice-President External Engagement (VPEE) coordinates UCL’s engagement with myriad external audiences, raising its profile and influence, and managing its reputation. VPEE covers a broad range of engagement activity across brand, integrated marketing, student recruitment, institutional communications, public affairs, media relations and events.
UCL is leading a large programme of change which is at the heart of helping UCL meet its strategic aims – this will be the focus for this role’s communications. The programme improves UCL’s services through collaborating with staff and students, and developing solutions that are straight forward and efficient. This is done by supporting local leadership and teams to enable change, and, when necessary, by organising large-scale programmes of work across services and departments. This story of strategic change is enabled through effective communication and engagement, and by telling the story of change effectively we can build a stronger culture of trust and advocacy within the university.
About the role
You will be working with the Head of Communications and Director of Strategic Change to develop an integrated change communications strategy for UCL.
In this role you'll ensure a high profile for UCL’s strategic change successes including through integrated engagement campaigns, case-studies and coordinating the effective dissemination of key communications messages to target audiences.
We're happy to consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job-share basis wherever possible. This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 20% on site.
Please use the attach cover letter upload option to tell us how you meet the criteria in the person specification.
About you
You will be an effective storyteller and be able to craft strong, compelling narratives and content across a variety of channels.
You will manage a network of ambassadors across different divisions and departments of the university, with strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to manage complex, sensitive priorities.
Candidates who can demonstrate strong change communications experience will be preferred, though we welcome applications from all sectors and those that can demonstrate transferable skills.
