About the role: 

We are looking for a dedicated and qualified Information Professional to become part of our Library & Digital Support team, providing support for the School of Nursing & Midwifery and the School of Psychology. 

You will provide information and digital literacy induction and teaching for students, support researchers and research students with open scholarship, and provide expert guidance, documentation and advice in specialist areas relevant to the disciplines. 

This will involve attending school meetings, liaising with academic and research staff, identifying requirements, appraising and selecting information resources, and promoting engagement with Library and Academic Development (LAD) services, digital tools, and resources.   

You will have an advocacy and training role to support Open Research practice in the University. 

Acting under the direction of the Senior Information Specialist you will be expected to contribute to cross directorate and cross institutional working groups, projects and initiatives, helping to inform the continuous development of services. 

Based in the Charles Seale-Hayne Library you will support students at campus locations in Plymouth and Exeter as well as remotely online. 

What we’re looking for: 

You will have a qualification or accreditation in a relevant Library or information management field.  Attainment of a teaching qualification will be required if not already held within 2 years of appointment. 

You will be someone with excellent communication, liaison and networking skills, who can work in partnership with your designate schools and across LAD services to gather intelligence, inform service development and share information effectively and inclusively. 

You will be able to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate information and digital literacy training programmes.  You will have effective and practical approaches to delivering teaching and learning in face to face, blended and online scenarios, and the capability to adopt and use technology to enhance the experience.  

You will be capable of developing specialist skills and knowledge in your designated disciplines to support their schools’ activities, and develop quality guidance and documentation.  Experience of working in health or medical librarianship, and supporting systematic review practices, is desirable. 

You will have a strong motivation for team leadership, and for coaching, developing and motivating staff.  A strong customer focus towards continuous improvement of the student experience is essential. 

About us: 

Library and Digital Support (LDS) is based in the Charles Seale-Hayne Library (CSHL), and is responsible for providing future-facing, comprehensive information services to students, academic and professional staff in support of learning, teaching and research requirements across the University. 

There is an essential requirement within this role that you will be required to travel to and work at different University sites and/or other business locations that may not be easily accessible by public transport.
